MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONCEPTUAL DESIGNER SPECIALISING IN CONSTRUCTION AND APPLICATION OF SOFT MATERIALS
Often times inspired by my own heritage and the curious things I see around me, I follow my intuition in creating new materials, textures and applications. I work with my hands and think by making, exploring the properties and possibilities of a given component. In my design process, which is informed by a concept, making is the key point where new ideas surface.
I tend to combine techniques, mix between hand and machine made, thus narrowing the gap between craftsmen and designer- emerging simply as a creator.
Having grown up in Latvia, I take inspiration from the Soviet era and it’s sociopolitical influence on the national identities of the countries in question. It is a curious moment in history, where a clash of identities is giving room for a new creation.
